What is an EPW weather file?

An EPW file is an hourly weather-data format commonly used in building performance simulation. It includes dry-bulb temperature, humidity, solar radiation, illuminance, wind, sky cover and other meteorological variables.

Why it matters for building design

Hourly climate data makes it possible to evaluate passive design, solar control, natural ventilation and changing future-weather conditions rather than relying on annual averages alone.
